Linda Carpenter brings a passion for fostering powerful transformation in individuals, groups, and systems to her role as CEO and co-founder of Carpenter Smith Consulting, LLC. For more than 15 years, Linda has worked with companies, teams and individuals to increase their effectiveness, get results previously unthinkable, and create meaning and satisfaction in their lives and the workplace.
Linda began her career as an R.N. and psychiatric nurse where she developed a deep understanding of human suffering and growth. She went on to get a B.A. in psychology when she realized the importance of empowering people to become leaders in their personal and professional lives. To learn more about motivation, learning, adult development, human systems and personal effectiveness, Linda completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a subspecialty in Organizational Development and Consultation.
Prior to founding her own company, Linda worked in several private settings as a management consultant and as an assistant professor in a major Midwest university. Her training and experience has enabled her to consult to large organizations, coach business leaders, and support individuals in claiming their power, effectiveness and spirit.
Linda integrates the breadth of her expertise in her work in career counseling, executive coaching, business consulting, and leadership development. She is described by her clients as a powerful ally and uniquely skilled strategist in helping them understand, grow and develop their personal and professional leadership and move their businesses forward.
Linda has contributed countless hours to pro bono work supporting organizations that contribute to the Portland community and is endlessly inspired by the passion and commitment of people determined to make a difference.
She and Stephanie Smith, the Smith in Carpenter Smith Consulting, have created a simple, straightforward approach for teaching people the skills of leadership and they are currently writing a workbook to increase access for individuals claiming their leadership throughout their lives.
Linda is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Consulting Psychology, the Oregon Psychological Association and the International Coaching Federation. She has two incredible children, one wild and crazy dog, and she enjoys an amazing life in the Pacific Northwest
