Amidst the whirlwind of the holidays, we thought we’d take a break from our yearly planning series to encourage you to pause, breathe, and reset.
The holidays can fill us with excitement and wonder while also bringing on feelings of anxiety and overwhelm.
We’d like this post
to serve as a gentle reminder to you,
to slow down.
When you take a few moments to pause, breathe, and reset, it sends signals to your brain that everything is okay. It can reduce stress and heart rate, and also help you to have more clarity so that you can respond versus react.
If pausing and breathing is all that you have space for, please stop here. It’s a great practice on it’s own.
But if you have room for just a bit more read on…
- While breathing, scan your body and tune into any sensations or emotions you may be having. You don’t have to do anything with them; just notice them.
- Say to yourself, “I’m here. I’m listening.”
- Listen and see what comes up for you.
Too often, we push blindly through the anxiety, pain, and stressors of this season. In doing so, we tend to miss or discount, the messages that our physical, spiritual, and emotional selves are trying to tell us.
Whether you’re rushing to be in five places at once, are stressed about how you’ll get everything done, or are anxious about the upcoming family gathering, we encourage you to find a few minutes each day, to pause, breathe, and reset.
Your health and wellness matter.
Stay tuned for next week when we’ll jump back into our yearly success path planning, and ask, “How can you set yourself up for success?”
